After searching e-Ham reviews, I decided to try the Zero-Five 27’ vertical and see how it worked with two 8’ ground rods in place of radials. Last year Hurricanes Ian and Nicole finally did it in. But time and weather took its toll on it. I settled on a Hy-Gain 12 AVQ hidden in the trees behind the home and for years it did the job. When we moved to Florida 13 years ago, I had to forget about bringing my beam antenna with me. On SSB, I get solid reports and the nets I check into have commented on how much better my signal is. Although, the rigs tuner does the job also. I run about 30 watts and I can switch bands on the fly with my Intellituner. I have worked Europe, Africa, Australia, Japan, Sri Lanka, South America and countless US stations. In addition, the support that Tom provides is outstanding. If you're looking for an HOA-friendly vertical you can't do much better than this ZEROFIVE 27 ft Vertical. The antenna is very broad-banded so once I tuned the band, I didn't have to retune as I moved up and down the CW portion of the bands. Needless to say, I was quite pleased with the overall performance, the low noise of the antenna, and the ease of tuning each band. I worked another 12 stations all over Europe with ease before taking a break. My first few contacts were with India, Thailand, and Kuwait. Band conditions on 20, 30, and 40 meters really picked up. I made two quick state-side contacts on 20 meters around 3:00 pm for the initial antenna test.īand conditions during the day were not great so I waited till around 8:00 pm to see how well this antenna worked. I installed two ground rods near the base, attached the run of coax to the supplied 4-1 Unun and I was on theĪir. Everything went together well and worked the first time without any troubleshooting needed.

I installed this antenna by myself and enjoyed the entire process. The antenna has a fold-over mount design which makes it easy for one person to raise and lower the antenna. After that was done the rest went together very quickly. The hardest part of the installation was to dig the 3-4 ft hole for the 5 ft water pipe antenna support and pound in the ground rods. He answered all my questions promptly and I had no problems installing this vertical. Tom provides outstanding customer support. Excellent 10-40M Ant, easy to install, great support
